Hands-on Learning Beyond the Classroom & Around the World!

You can tell the history of a wine bottle - by just taking a whiff of it. Sounds interesting? That is exactly what I teach my course participants during the wine appreciation workshop. As wine tasting is an acquired taste, I take my participants through the history of winemaking as well as the different wines and their country of origin. Unfortunately, Singapore does not manufacture its own wine and so, to treat my students to the real deal about wine appreciation, I organized a Wine tour to Bordeaux.

Looking for an Unforgettable Bordeaux Wine Experience? Without a doubt the Best Wine Tours in Bordeaux!

It was the first overseas experience for my participants and they were ecstatic at the sheer beauty of the winery as well as the skill and detail that goes into manufacturing wine. I make my courses very interactive and incorporate the element of fun into every session. I have a diverse makeup of participants - from undergraduates to lawyers to hospitality industry professional - and to spice up each session, I got them to form teams and conducted a competition about wines. Questions included which year a particular wine was produced and where was it from.

Through the overseas wine tasting trip, my participants found it an eye-opener and also got to know more about each other's wine preferences. They also have since formed their own interest groups such as wine clubs, where they meet up on weekends for wine tasting and lunches. Some other participants have been so bitten by the wine bug that they have gone on to pursue professional qualifications in wine tasting and have even started conducting their own courses.

To keep participants engaged, I involve them in fun activities like this where I get them to guess the age of wines.
